CHRISTMAS IN MÜNSTER

THE MAGIC OF

CHRISTMAS

Every year, as Christmas approaches, the German city of Münster transforms into a magical place filled with tempting aromas and a unique atmosphere that attracts more than a million visitors. Its famous Christmas Market, spread across six markets, is undoubtedly one of the season's biggest draws. It's also the hometown of one of our inspirational women: Paula Weske, who guides us through the city's illuminated streets and invites us to learn about its Christmas traditions.

"I grew up with my mother in the center of Münster, and Christmas Eve was always very special to me. My mother and I would walk to church, passing the Prinzipalmarkt, with its twinkling lights and its giant Christmas tree next to the Lambertikirche. That day, the avenue seemed empty, as if the city had stopped so everyone could be with their families."

Harsewinkel Square Market
With its imposing Christmas tree at its center, this market is ideal for those looking to enjoy a quiet moment with a hot chocolate in hand.

"It's a more intimate place, perfect for taking a leisurely stroll and enjoying the Christmas atmosphere."

Kiepenkerl Market
This market is located around the Kiepenkerl statue. Visitors can find regional products and delicacies such as Glühwein, a delicious mulled wine, and Pumpernickel, a sweet, dark bread typical of German cuisine.

"This market has a very homey feel; I always find a little something to give. And, of course, a mulled wine with friends is a must; it's the perfect time to share laughter and warmth with your family."

Aegidii Market
The Aegidii-Markt is a medieval market with a unique charm. Its 6-meter-high illuminated Christmas tree makes it even more special.

"Here I always find hand-carved wooden figurines and enjoy a good gingerbread while listening to local musicians. It's like traveling back in time."

Saint Lambert Market

Located next to the beautiful Lambertikirche, this market has a special charm. It's a small, cozy market with warm lights that surround you as you wander among the stalls filled with unique crafts and local sweets.

"This corner is one of my favorites. I always find handmade details that seem to have a story behind them, and certainly part of my childhood too, and that makes it even more special."

Market on the Stubengasse

This market is the most modern of all and has a unique touch, combining the traditional with the contemporary.

"It's always a surprise to come here. You can find everything from super-original modern accessories to authentic sweets you wouldn't expect to taste. It's a place where the past and present feel in perfect harmony."
