Interview -
How did you get started in music?
I started in Lisbon with my mom when she told me to come to a “jam session.”
I started improvising and realized I liked that world. Singing, flowing, and not knowing what I was doing. (laughs)
How would you describe the music you usually create? What message do you want to convey?
The message changes depending on how I feel.
I find it hard to define myself in life as something concrete; I'm quite abstract, and I don't think I have a completely defined style.
It changes depending on my mood, the circumstances, the people I'm with, and what I listen to.
What do you like to express?
A learning experience for myself.
I don't like to pigeonhole myself. In fact, if I do, I know something's not right and I'm trying to please people, not myself.
“The songs I write, I don't write them for people.
I write them for myself. Sometimes I don't even understand them; it's something that comes to me, I write it down, and then I add melodies to it.
"I don't like to think about what I'm going to write. I write; I'm an action girl."
Have you dedicated the lyrics of a song to someone?
Yes. My album “Rúbrica,” and especially the song “Malva Marina,” is dedicated to all women.
I usually dedicate songs or at least I like to think about why and for what I do it.
My next album is a real challenge for me because it speaks to my underground life and my feelings. I dedicate it to myself and allow myself to express my opinion.
In the end, it's very easy to dedicate it to someone because you research women who broke barriers, like Ofelia, Chavela Vargas, Frida Kahlo, among others, and the words come out on their own.
“Breaking barriers sets us free. Express your truth without fear, even if it goes against the established order.”

How do you like to dress on a daily basis?
My clothes depend a bit on the moment I'm in. Something similar happens to me with music; my style changes a lot. But I have a clear idea about this: clothes are about attitude. I like to buy special pieces, adapt them to "my style," and wear them with personality.
"Like a little girl who puts on a costume and sells it to you because she feels safe. That's what's important: looking at yourself."
Do you have any items that you can't do without when you perform in public?
Well, it's true that long skirts give me a lot of confidence. Their flow and weight help me connect with the earth. And rings. For me, hands are very important because we convey a lot with them. I also paint, and I have to confess that they've sometimes covered up a wound .
In addition to being a singer and songwriter, you also paint and act. How do you juggle so many things at once?
Well, collating... I collate pages. (laughs). It goes in stages; I'd love to be able to do it all at once. There are stages that are very musical, others that are very interpretive, and others that are very "painterly." The one I like the most, the one that makes me the happiest, and the one that gives me the most peace of mind is painting. When I paint, I do it without pressure, not from other people, not from myself.
“The beauty of painting is not thinking.” It’s a kind of therapy for the mind.
The latest song he released is called "Koraje" and it's about the heart. It's a song I dedicated to my grandfather.
With this song, I want to convey that when we speak from the heart, we forget about opinions and expectations. It's the best thing we can do to beat, to step strongly, and to have courage."

“I speak with words that dance loudly, fast, and weak, never fall silent.”
“I feel with my heart, I move with enthusiasm, I come out of my shell to see my reaction.
“No, don’t ask for forgiveness anymore, speak from your heart.”
“The key decays That opens the seas
Bird Marina
He flew all the seas
The girl wanted to bloom
But Neruda didn't see her grow up.
Malva Marina you are a creature of art from the air
You see, you see, you see that you know, you know
Key that opens what you cannot see
The key is your key because you are the carnation
The carnation that lights up your being
That you have to be
whatever you want to see"
